Diversity at GTH

Diversity is among Gordon Thomas Honeywell’s core values, and we are committed to promoting, maintaining and nurturing a diverse workplace.  In today's increasingly global business environment, we recognize that diversity and inclusion are not only beneficial social values, but also vital ingredients to our innovation and success.

The firm has a longstanding policy of nondiscrimination on the basis of gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, veteran status or religious beliefs.  We are not content to rest on policy and require annual sexual harassment training and are currently implementing a diversity training program for all attorneys and staff.

The firm’s Diversity Committee is tasked with the mission to foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for all our attorneys and employees.  Committee members also work to successfully recruit, develop and retain attorneys and staff of diverse backgrounds and characteristics.  In support of our diversity recruiting efforts, the firm annually attends the Northwest Minority Job Fair and also annually employs a summer associate through the Puget Sound Area Minority Clerkship Program.

Our attorneys are active in minority bar associations and often serve in leadership roles.  These have included the current and numerous past presidents and officers of Pierce County Washington Women Lawyers, president-elect of QLaw (GLBT Bar Association of Washington), board trustee of the Northwest Indian Bar Association, co-chair of the Diversity Committee for the WSBA Young Lawyers Division, and past presidents of the Korean American Bar Association of Washington, the Asian Bar Association of Washington and the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington.  Our efforts to promote equality also extend well beyond the legal community.  Partner Sal Mungia served for many years on the Tacoma Human Rights Commission.

The firm’s commitment to diversity and other forward-thinking workplace policies have been noted by Seattle Business Magazine, the South Sound Business Examiner and the Puget Sound Business Journal.  All have recognized Gordon Thomas Honeywell as one of the best workplaces in the region.
