Representative Cases/Transactions
Andahl v. Bollinger, et al. (Snohomish County Superior Court)
- Successfully tried landslide case to jury on behalf of general contractor accused of negligently installing drain system and obtained defense verdict after 2½ weeks of trial. Plaintiff claimed more than $500,000 in property and other damages.
Rhodes v. IBEW Local 11 (Kittitas County Superior Court)
- Defended labor union in serious personal injury action brought by two former union apprentices who suffered internal and external electrical burns while working in a program partially sponsored by the defendant. Case dismissed on summary judgment based upon doctrine of Federal preemption under Federal Labor Law.
Korpi v. Cross (King County Superior Court)
- Defended $500,000 + personal injury claim with very significant loss of professional income claim. Case successfully settled within weeks of trial well below policy limits.
Tognoli v. Allen (USDC)
- Defended premises liability personal injury case involving plaintiff that fell through a trap door at Vulcan facility on Lopez Island. Successful settlement on behalf of general contractor after oral argument on summary judgment.
Shilshole View Condominium Assn. v. Shilshole, LLC (Settlement pre-suit)
- Successfully settled Washington Condominium Act claim on behalf of declarant/developer. Project involved a 14 unit stucco clad condo on the waterfront on Shilshole Bay in Seattle. Case settled for less than $200,000 after extensive investigation prior to filing of suit by Homeowner's Association.
Bowen v. Moeller (King County Superior Court)
- Successfully tried case on behalf of plaintiff suing to enforce terms of personal guaranty. Obtained judgment in excess of $70,000 plus award of attorneys' fees and costs. Enforced judgment and collected on personal assets after supplemental proceedings, execution, and sheriff's sale.
Ratigan v. Central Building, Seco Development, Pinnacle Realty Management, et al.
- Defended owner and property manager of apartment building in case involving personal injuries to a 4 year old boy who fell out of a second floor window sustaining life threatening injuries and potential permanent cognitive impairment. Achieved successful settlement well below policy limits after securing substantial contribution from general contractor based on additional insured status and principals of indemnity.
