Waldo Brokers Deal Allowing Development of New Port Terminal

SSA Containers, Inc., a Seattle-based shipping-terminal operator, will build the biggest and most expensive terminal in the Tacoma Tideflats on land owned by the Puyallup Indian Tribe. Jim Waldo, representing SSA, brokered a unique agreement with the Tribe in which SSA will design and construct the over $475 million project and then operate the terminal. “This is the largest private investment in the Tacoma-Pierce County area in recent memory,” Waldo said. The terminal will have two berths and space for storage and transfer of shipping containers, and it will generate thousands of high-paying, family-wage jobs.
