Rick Creatura and Andrea McNeely successfully defend Ramtha's School of Enlightenment's right to protect its teachings from unauthorized commercial use by others. In a highly publicized and emotion-charged jury trial in Thurston County, Rick Creatura and Andrea McNeely represented JZK, Inc., the corporate sponsor of JZ Knight, in claims against former students. Ms. Knight channels Ramtha, a 35,000 year old warrior from the lost continent of Atlantis, and runs a school that teaches a series of disciplines designed to increase a student's ability to focus and power of intuition. Before participation in a class, students are required to sign "Conditions of Participation" under which they agree they will use of the information and techniques learned at the school for their personal use only. Whitewind Weaver and several other students who attended numerous events at Ms. Knight's school decided to open up their own school just ten miles away in Rainier, Washington called "Art of Life Coaching." As part of their school's program, they used information and techniques that they had learned at JZ Knight's school, thereby violating the Conditions of Participation that they had all signed. The jury found the defendants liable for breach of contract and awarded JZK, Inc. all of the income earned by the defendants during the event - $10,3888 -- which was the full amount requested. "It's not about the money." Mr. Creatura told the jury. "It's about the school's right to protect its teachings, even if they are unorthodox or unpopular."
