On January 23, 2009, Salvador Mungia received the Modelo de Excelencia Award from the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington. Each year the Association seeks to recognize an attorney or judge with a history of teaching, mentoring or otherwise providing an outstanding example for younger lawyers; a pattern and practice of opening doors for Latinos in a variety of job settings that have been historically closed to Latinos; a record of professional excellence within their area of practice; exceptional leadership demonstrated by furthering issues that affect members of the Latino community; and a high level of ethics and respect for their role as an attorney. Congratulations to Sal on this well-deserved honor!
