Representative Cases/Transactions

  • Lead counsel of the successful defense of a Lakewood woman in case brought under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. Following a bench trial, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington denied a petition to send the client's two minor children to live in Mexico with her estranged husband. Etienne v. Zuniga, No. C10-5061 (W.D. Wash. 2010).
  • Lead counsel in the successful representation of a large information technology services company whose competitor had sought advantageous information via the Public Records Act, 42.56 RCW. Obtained a court order permanently enjoining the Department of Social and Health Services from releasing any of the client's confidential and proprietary information to the requesting party. CNSI v. DSHS, et al., No. 11-2-00188-9 (Thurston County Sup. Ct. 2011).
  • Successfully represented a discharged military serviceman, as co-counsel, in a case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. In a published opinion, the Ninth Circuit reversed the lower court's dismissal of the client's lawsuit against two military recruiters who had allegedly forged reenlistment documents, obliging the client to an additional military service obligation. Jackson v. Tate, No.10-35355 (9th Cir. June 2, 2011).
