Lara Fowler to speak on "Impacts of FEMA Floodplain Mapping: Regulatory Changes and Implications for Local Jurisdictions and Property Owners."

On February 1, 2012 at the Crowne Plaza Seattle, with Steve Bleifuhs the Manager of the River and Floodplain Management Section of King County, WA and Robert Brenner the Environmental Program Manager for the Port of Tacoma. As regulatory changes in the management and development of floodplains and adjacent land areas come down the pike, the implications for local governments and property owner alike will be significant. With the growing recognition of the effects of altering floodplains, FEMA and NOAA/NMFS will soon require significant revisions of city and county floodplain regulations to minimize and compensate for such impacts. This program provides public sector representatives, property owners, development consultants/attorneys and others with interests with the information essential to the management and development of these areas.
